PRP Treatment
The treatment is popular with celebrities and featured in an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
The treatment requires a blood sample from the patient which is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet rich plasma. PRP can result in in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, a minimised appearance of scars (for example acne scars), and a general improvement to skin tone and texture. The treatment can also be effective for treating lines around the mouth, under eye bags, dark circles and crepey skin.
What is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. It is a unique technique that uses the patient’s own blood plasma for rejuvenation. Blood plasma is enriched with platelets (a source of healing proteins and growth factors), fibrins (the wound healing and regeneration matrix) and stem cells (the conductors of our body’s own healing and regeneration modules). PRP is injected directly into the areas of concern via a thin needle (similar to Mesotherapy), which activates accelerated healing and regeneration. New fibroblasts, collagen and elastin tissues are formed following injection which improves skin elasticity and complexion. PRP has a gentle and gradual effect. but is long-lasting.
